Alcochete, a traditional fishing village on the south bank of the Tagus River
For a tour “off the beaten track”, we visit the south bank with Alcochete, the birthplace of King Manuel.
Founded by the Moors in the 8th century, it was an important refuge for the royal family in the 15th and 16th centuries. This town boasts a rich cultural heritage and incredible scenic beauty. And if you decide to start exploring on a day trip, we recommend that the Samoco Salt Mines and the Tagus Nature Reserve are a 30-minute walk away.
Meeting point: Alcochete Tourist Office, Largo da Misericordia
Difficulty level: Easy
Price: €160 for a private group of up to 10 people, then €10 per additional person.
